Each clock and barometer was handcrafted and individually numbered -- this is #302. Engraved on the brass base is a likeness of Columbus' sailing ship. The ships bell 4L movement is the highest expression of the clockmakers art, a hidden object of beauty that performs the complex functions of precision time- keeping and faithful striking of the hours and half-hours. The gold-plated striking mechanism lifts a leather- tipped hammer, which strikes a coiled steel gong attached to the forged base. Height 9". Width 15". Weighs an impressive 22 lbs. All outside brass parts are factory lacquered. In absolutely mint condition. In the original packing box. A highly collectible set. Especially nice as a gift for someone special. |
